NaturalNatures is the brainchild of Alexander Von Humboldt, Abraham Meislow, Vladimir Klavdiyevich Arsenyev, and Alois Alrich. It began one day while Alex and Alois were hiking in Great Sand Dunes National Park in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. Alex was struck by the power and scope of nature when reaching the summit of a dune far from the reaches of most visiting tourists. He realized that there would be one thing that would add astronomically to the power of the natural world around him, he had to get natural too. So the picture taking began.
The name NaturalNatures was created when Alex and Abe were taking a trip through the national parks of California. The idea was too good to be true as far as Abe was concerned, and, being obsessed with words as he is, he had to come up with a name for the endeavor. It needed alliteration, it needed to be short, and it needed to describe the series of photos perfectly. Well, people call pictures of scenery “nature photos” and when a person goes around naked it’s referred to as going “au natural.” A simple bit of addition and NaturalNatures was born.
Now don’t go thinking that this is yet another porn site. The internet has enough of those as it is. We have no desire to be added to that slush pile. This is an exercise in art, humor, and a visual representation of a modern philosophy for life.
There are those of you reading this thinking, “they’re really going to try to tie this to some kind of philosophy?” But the truth is we don’t even need to try, it’s intrinsically linked to our generation’s struggle to break through the old taboos and reconnect with the basic building blocks of a happy life: freedom, adventure, and relationships.
Yes, relationships. This is our final goal with Natural Natures. We want this website to become a social platform where all people can share their tasteful NaturalNatures wherever they take them across the world, and where they can share their adventures with fellow thrill seekers.
So stay awhile and check out the art already amassed, then grab a friend, grab a camera, and go hit the trail. We look forward to you joining the worldwide artistic endeavor of NaturalNatures.
A Growing Mission
Since it's original inception, NaturalNatures has grown in scope and philosophy. We (Vlad, Alex, and Abe) took a life changing 10 month road trip across the United States of America. On that journey we decided to expand the reach of NaturalNatures with two new projects existing adjacent to the photography and artwork.
One of these projects is NaturalNatures Tours, where we will take tours out into the wilderness of the U.S. The participants will be living out of tents and exploring regions of our beautiful natural world that would otherwise go overlooked. We hope to instill an appreciation for the natural world and a desire to protect and conserve it with these tours.
The other project is the NaturalNatures Farm. This will be a commune where the world weary may rest and live close to the earth as a member of a farming community based on love and acceptance. We hope that this venture will bring more love and more sustainable habits of living into the world.
